David Lawrence's OSX ports Page

This page has some binaries of some software I use on OS X. Most of the package installers I made myself for convenience. These are here mainly as a convenience to those wishing to install/develop/run GlueX simulation and reconstruction software on OS X.

For the most part, these are all PPC binaries. If I ever get access to an Intel-based OS X machine, I'll look into making some universal binaries.

All-in-one:

Here is a disk image that contains most of the packages you'll need as well as a version of the GlueX simulation and reconstruction code. If you're setting up a fresh system, you might want to just grab this rather than the individual packages below. Be warned though, it's kind of large (155MB!).

GlueX-ALL (155MB) OS X 10.4

Packages:

Xerces-2.7 (10MB) OS X 10.4
gfortran4.1.0 (2.3MB) OS X 10.4
CERNLIB2005 (60MB) OS X 10.4
ROOT5.09 (27MB) OS X 10.4
subversion-client-1.3.1 (9.7MB) OS X 10.4

Note that packages marked (10.4) were compiled on OS X 10.4 Tiger using the default gcc4.0 compiler. These may have problems linking with things compiled on OS X 10.3 Panther which uses the gcc3.3 compiler by default.

OS X 10.4 does come with a gcc3.3 compiler than can be used in a pinch.
