Tracking Status

Jan. 30, 2006

NOTE: SOME OF THE PLOTS ON THIS PAGE WERE GENERATED WITH MULTIPLE SCATTERING TURNED OFF. THE ERROR WAS NOT DISCOVERED UNTIL AFTER THE PRESENTATION TO THE SOFTWARE GROUP ON THE 30TH! PLOTS KNOWN TO BE AFFECTED ARE MARKED WITH "--- MULS. OFF ---" JUST BEFORE THE PLOT.

Elton ran the momres program with conditions equivalent to throwing 1GeV π+s at 90o. The four plots below show the result of the momres calculation (lines) and the result of GEANT simulation with track fitting.

The next set of plots shows the residuals(X-axis) for the CDC, FDC Andode, and FDC Cathode as a function of layer(Y-axis). The first set is with no smearing of the positions (through smearing of the drift times). The second set is with a smearing equivalent to 200%mu;m. The residuals are calculated as the difference between the distance as caclculated from the (smeared) drift time and the DOCA (distance of closest approach) of the track after fitting. --- MULS. --- MULS. OFF ---

These next two plots show the projections of the above sets onto the X-axis. The CDC, FDC Anode and FDC Cathode are superimposed on one another. --- MULS. OFF ---

--- MULS. OFF ---

These plots show the effect of replacing the downstream CDC endplate with Air. The effect is small. This seems consistent with the parametic Monte Carlo results from GlueX-doc-681

Here is the momentum resolution by a slightly earlier version of the fitter that shows the effect of FDC packages for a certain kinematic region.

These plots show the momentum resolution dependance on the chamber position resolution for a few different kinematic points.

This last plot is of the momentum resolution as a function of momentum using the track fitter and geant data smeared by various amounts. --- MULS. OFF ---
