Minutes of the E00-102 Planning Meeting

        We had an O16 meeting Monday with 7 people there (Arun, myself,
Bodo, Wendy, Jim Kelly, George Chang, Doug H).  Arun showed a summary of
the kinematics, schedule and target.  We have 40 calendar days of beam
time, which is 20 days at 50% availability.  If the availability is higher
(and it has been recently) then we should have enough time to do a really
good measurement.

        Bodo sumamrized the detector layout.  HRS-l: VDC, S1, A1/S0, RICH,
S2, PR.  RICH will not be used by us, it may be tested parasitically.
HRS-r: VDC, S1, S0, LGC, S2, PS, TS.  (For the uninitiated [like me], A1
is the aerogel cerenkov [I think], PR is the pion rejector, LGC is the
Long Gas Cerenkov, and PS and TS are shower counters.)  We will need to
swap some detectors.  S0 will also need significant work.  Bob Michaels
and Bodo will change the trigger back from single arm to coincidence.

        I discussed Kevin's simulations.  We talked about acceptance and
'r-method' vs rectangular cuts.  The consensus was that conservative count
rate estimates are a good idea.
