Minutes of the E00102 meeting Thursday, October 11, 2001 KF present: MA Mattias Andersson FC Francesco Cusano AD Areg Danagoulian DH Douglas Higinbotham WH Wendy Hinton XJ Xiaodong Jiang JL John LeRose NL Nilanga Liyanage DM Dave Meekins BR Bodo Reitz AS Arun Saha LW Larry Weinstein o LVDT calibration surveys for the HRSr will be performed before the experiment starts. This will probably require five surveys - small angle, large angle, three intermediate angles. The LVDTs will not be of use for the HRSl since it is static throughout the entire experiment. We will rely entirely on survey for its location. o lockup may occur as early as Monday morning. o BR reviewed the shift schedule and showed the holes we have, particularly early on, which are worrisome. He made arrangements to cover these places with various people. o KF laid out the runplan and we addressed the nagging questions that we had been putting off. We are taking collimator in/out data in parallel kinematics. We also decided to split kin_a+ 50/50 collimator in/out. Between these two data sets we should be able to decide if we see any collimator-induced effects, and we'll adjust as appropriate. We anticipate none and thus will probably run collimators out for all of the production data. KF will put together a release-version of the detailed runplan over the weekend. o XJ presented his request for beamtime. To summarize, he would like 1.0 shifts evenly divided between Pmiss = -140 MeV/c and Pmiss = +140 MeV/c measure ALT and RLT for 12C. We will consider this if we get off to a very good start. We are not sure if we are allowed by the lab to look at another target for physics. Decision postponed until this is known. o MA reported on his progress with the .tcl scripts. DH will get together with MA and doublecheck things. He suggested to start with the E98108 scripts and make modifications. We need to add the OTR variables and the H2Ofall variables, for example. o WH reported on her progress with the online analysis software. The detector kumacs are in place. She is currently putting together the physics ESPACE and PAW kumacs. They are about 80% complete. Some modifications (from left and right to electron and hadron, for example) still need to be done. o DM reported on the H2Ofall target. He outlined the target ladder, the thicknesses of the (hyperpure) BeO and (pyrolytic) 12C foils, and quickly went over changing targets and the various readbacks again. He has prepared an operations document that will be posted to the E00102 website. o NL went through his thoughts on how our QE 16O(e,e') optics checkout of the HRSr would be better performed as QE 16O(e,e'p) (punchthrough) optics. He thinks an Emiss cut can clean up the punchthroughs sufficiently that the information we need can be obtained. He pointed out that the negative polarity measurement probably was just a waste of time, and that it would be better to come up with the HRSr set for protons. We agreed to go with this suggestion. o the general meeting broke up and KF, WH, LW, MA, and WH remained and went through the detailed runplan line-by-line.
