Operations
The main control GUI for the HRS2 is shown at the
bottom of this page.
-
On the left-hand side of the GUI, located between the RIGHT spectrometer
magnet interface and the COLLIMATORS interface, is the VDC HV interface.
The readback for the individual VDCs (labelled TOP and BOTTOM) is shown
as a function of spectrometer ("R" for Right and "L" for Left).
-
The parameters are as follows:
-
dark blue fields to the extreme left labelled "uA" are a readback
of the instantaneous current draw.
-
black fields in the center labelled "kV" show the readback high
voltage - green numbers mean OK, while red numbers indicate a problem
that should be investigated immediately.
-
light blue fields to the right labelled "kV" with black values show
the high voltage set points.
-
green fields to the extreme right indicate that the HV is steady
state - if these fields are red, a ramp is occuring.
-
to set the HV, simply type the desired value (4.000) into the light blue
high voltage set point fields. The chamber will automatically be
ramped to this value. Once the HV steady state lights are green,
the HV has stabilized.
-
should a chamber trip, repeat the above step. Note that a series
of repeated trips indicates a problem, and operations should be immediately
suspended and the Run Coordinator notified. Never attempt to "force"
a chamber to hold HV.
-
If everything is operating properly, the readback current draw fields should
show nominal values of less than 30, the readback HV fields should show
a nominal value of 4.000 and be green, and the HV steady state indicators
should be green. Anything else denotes a potential problem that
should be investigated immediately.
-
In the bottom right-hand corner of the GUI is the VDC thresholds interface.
The readback for the individual VDCs (labelled TOP and BTM) is shown as
a function of spectrometer (labelled RIGHT and LEFT).
-
The parameters are as follows:
-
black fields labelled "Volts" are a readback of the threshold voltage
set points - green numbers mean OK, while red numbers indicate a problem
that should be investigated immediately.
-
light blue fields labelled "Volts" with black values show the threshold
voltage set points.
-
black fields labelled +5.2V/-5V are a readback of the threshold
discriminator power supply voltages - green numbers mean OK, while red
numbers indicate a problem that should be investigated immediately.
-
to set the discriminator thresholds, simply type the desired values (4.00)
into the light blue high voltage set point fields.
-
In the center of the GUI located between the VDC HV control panel and the
VDC thresholds interface is the Gas flow interface. The readback
for the individual VDCs (labelled T_VDC and B_VDC) is shown as a function
of spectrometer (labelled RIGHT and LEFT).
-
The parameters are as follows:
-
black fields labelled "l/h" are a readback of the gas throughput
for each chamber - green numbers mean OK, while red numbers indicate
a problem that should be investigated immediately.
-
In the center of the GUI located at the very bottom is the Gas Shed
interface. The readback for the Argon and Ethane bottles which
supply the VDCs with gas is shown.
-
The parameters are as follows:
-
black fields labelled "l/h" are a readback of the current bottle
pressure - green numbers mean OK, while red numbers indicate a problem
that should be investigated immediately.
