Triaxial cable

This particular type of cable is basically made of three parts:

• a central wire which carries the signal
• a first shield which is the return of the signal
• a second shield which carries all the external noises to a proper ground

The purpose of using such a cable is to build a Faraday Cup around the 1MHz signal, which is composed by the second shield of the triax, a special box inside the chassis, again the second shield of the triax, and the ground of the digital multimeter.
In this way, all the noise is carried away ,and we get a very clean signal at the end.

Nevertheless this system requires some extra work because all the connections are non-standard; so we had to buy and build some special connectors (the "junction boxes").
