Speaker: Harvey Meyer (MIT) Title: Computing the Transport Coefficients of the QGP on the Lattice Abstract: RHIC has shown that the system formed in heavy ion collisions behaves like a fluid with very small shear viscosity. It is therefore of primary interest to calculate the transport coefficients of the quark gluon plasma (QGP) from first principles. I present a recent lattice calculation of the shear and bulk viscosity of SU(3) pure gauge theory in the deconfined phase. I then discuss new strategies to improve the extraction of real-time physics from Euclidean correlators, and show results for several steps that are part of these new strategies.
