Speaker: Werner Vogelsang (Brookheaven National Lab.) Title: Helicity Parton Distributions of the Nucleon Abstract: Three decades of experiments in polarized deep inelastic scattering (DIS) have provided important and exciting information on the spin structure of the nucleon. Much has become known about the nucleon's quark and anti-quark helicity distributions, and pp collisions at RHIC are now giving insights into the polarized gluon distribution. The talk describes theoretical work on the helicity distributions, in particular related to the RHIC spin program and to the determination of gluon polarization. It also discusses recent progress towards a joint "global" analysis of the helicity distributions from the DIS and RHIC data.
