Duties of the data acquisition person
  1. Main duty is to make sure that good data is written to tape. General instructions for data taking.
  2. Each run fill in the runsheet.
  3. Run the spot program to check the raster size of the beam.
  4. Make sure the proper prescale factors are in the prescale.dat. For E93-027 all accepted trigger rates except trigger 5 should be less than 5 Hz. The file  prescale.dat  is located in the directory /home/adev/prescale on adaqs2 after logging into  adev account. The values in prescale.dat are loaded at the beginning of the run.
  5. Make sure that the trigger setup is correct. When the hadron momentum changes the delay between the hadron and electron might have to change. Run the program trigsetup on adaqh2 to download the new delays (Instructions). To check what momentum the delays for the trigger are set do the following.
    1. Login to adaqh2 as adaq
    2. type gotrigger
    3. type grep proton trigsetup.settings
    4. which should produce an output like "# This file for proton momentum 1170 - 1700 MeV/c (approx)"
  6. Make sure the program datamon is running. This allows one to monitor the usage of the disk and the deadtime. When the present disk is above 95% full, the disk to which data is written is automatically switched when a new run is starteddatamon is run form the adaqs2 computer under the adev account.
  7. Make sure that the program xscaler is running for both the hadron and electron scalers. To look at hadron scalers do the following:
    1. Login to adaqh2 as adaq
    2. type gohscaler
    3. type xscaler
    4. press the START button
To look at electron scalers follow the same steps except type goescaler
  8.  Once the run starts check that the helicity gates are OK by  looking at the hadron xscaler page. There are pages of trigger scalers gated on helicity plus, helicity minus and run. One should check that the h+.pulses.h-gate and h-.pulses.h-gate are 0 and 15 Hz and that h+.pulses.h+gate and h-.pulses.h+gate are 15 and 0 Hz
  9. Important in CODA not to press buttons before the state transition has ended. Normally one will press RUN to start the run. If one pushes PRESTART button wait until there is a message ``Transition PRESTART  succeeded'' in the message window before pressing GO. Otherwise CODA could crash.
