Notes of Ndelta at 12 GeV ------------------------- Measure M1, E1/M1 and S1/M1 at W=1232 for p(e,ep)pi^o exclusive to as high as Q2 as possible. Measure center-of-mass cross section as a function of W, theta_cm and phi_cm. At given Q2 fix electron spectrometer and move the proton spectrometer around q-vector to cover the full theta_cm and phi_cm range. Important considerations: 1) Missing mass and center-of-mass angle resolution. 2) High momentum for electron ( 8.5 GeV/c) and proton ( 10.49 GeV/c) . 3) Well known central angle between two arms. Kinematics ---------- Beam energy is 11 GeV Max th_pq is maximum lab angle between proton and q vector usually at around 90-110deg theta_cm for W=1232. p_p is proton momentum at the given theta_cm Q2 E' th_e th_q p_p p_p thcm=0 thcm=180 Max th_pq -- ----- ---- ---- ----- -------- --------- 4.000 8.525 11.855 33.389 3.132 1.849 5.3 deg 6.000 7.459 15.542 27.656 4.211 2.528 3.9 8.000 6.393 19.417 23.152 5.273 3.189 3.1 10.00 5.327 23.840 19.363 6.325 3.841 2.6 12.00 4.262 29.307 15.982 7.372 4.487 2.2 14.00 3.196 36.786 12.775 8.416 5.131 2.0 16.00 2.130 48.809 9.482 9.458 5.772 1.7 18.00 1.064 76.628 5.500 10.498 6.412 1.6 Beam energy is 8.8 GeV Q2 E' th_e th_q p_p p_p thcm=0 thcm=180 Max th_pq -- ----- ---- ---- ----- -------- --------- 4.000 6.325 15.406 31.871 3.132 1.849 5.3 6.000 5.259 20.743 25.633 4.211 2.528 3.9 Spectrometers -------------- Max momentum in HMS is 7.4 angle range 10.8 to 80. Max momentum of SHMS in the large solid angle mode (4.5msr) is 8.8 GeV with angular range 10 to 25 degrees. Max momentum of SHMS in the small solid angle mode (2.2msr) is 11 GeV with angular range 5.5 to 10. degrees. Comment ------- It would be nice to get the resolutions in missing mass and for the center of mass angle. I can do this for the SHMS/HMS combo and SHMS/HRS combo with SIMC. Maybe Doug or Ron can get the angular and momentum resolution of MAD.
