The EG1 Running Group within the CLAS collaboration comprises 4 experiments
that use polarized electron or photon beam and polarized targets (H or
D):
-
Experiment E91-015
will measure the helicity structure of pion photoproduction and contribute
to the world's data on the Gerasimov-Drell-Hearn sum rule.
-
Experiment E91-023
will measure polarized structure functions of the proton at low to moderate
Q2 and in the resonance region.
-
Experiment E93-009
will measure polarized structure functions of the deuteron in the same
kinematic region as E91-023. These two experiments together will explore
the Q2-dependence of the Gerasimov-Drell-Hearn sum rule for
protons and neutrons.
-
Experiment E93-036
will measure the helicity structure of single pion electroproduction, which
is one of the dominant channels contributing to the inclusive polarized
structure functions measured in E91-023.
The first run of this running group occured in the second half of 1998
(beginning late in September). The second part
of the running group is scheduled for 6 months beginning in September 2000
(installation in August). This part is expected to complete data taking
for the electron part of EG1. The running group is coordinated by Sebastian
Kuhn.

24-Dec-98 The first part of the EG1 runing period has been completed,
with plenty of good (we hope) data on the proton and some on the deuteron.
Looking forward to the next run...

Upcoming Meeting(s):
-
We have weekly meetings every Thursday 10:30 in B101 CEBAF Center. These
meetings alternate on a semi-regular schedule (every other week) between
-
EG1 analysis meetings to organize the analysis effort, present preliminary
results etc.. These meetings are announced via the EG1
mailing list (see above) and can be attended from off-site via
phone conference. Please contact Volker
Burkert if you want to be included as an off-site participant.
-
prepare for the next run in 2000, especially organize and plan the work
on the polarized target. Announcements, agendas and minutes for these meetings
are sent only to people who work on or are particularly interested in the
polarized target. If you are interested to join that group, please send
me an email message (I make no promises, though).
