BigBite Optics #11

Comparison of the target positions:

I have found some potential problems with the relative positions of the targets. I realized that carbon-optics target seems to be longer than the production cell, although we know, that they should be of the same size. I believe that this is due to the larger spacing between first two carbon foils.

Target-Y Calibration:

I realized this week, that my TgY variable has wrong sign. I have fixed this problem and now it is consistent with the HRSL orientation. Because of this change I also had to correct the matrix elements for the rest of the variables. This was quite a setback. I also received the email from John J. Lerose, who sent me his simulated BB optics matrix. This helped me to reduce number of matrix elements from 70 to only 25.

Production Cell results (3GeV run #3608)

With my new matrix for the TgY, I compared TgY variable reconstructed with BB with the corresponding TgY variable calculated from HRS-L. Here are the results:

Problems with the minimization algorithm:

I am also trying to determine how my final matrix elements depend on the initial set of elements. Here are some plots. It seems that my minimization algorithm is not working properly. I am trying to do this for all the target variables. This is work in progress.
