BigBite E-plane TDC calibration:

Mean speed-of-light and offset determination:

Here are the results of the speed of light calibration. I tried to determine mean speed of light in E-plane paddle:

E-plane TDC : Motivation for Calibration :

I would like to calibrate TDCs to improve resolution of the TDC vs. momentum plots.

The bananas that we observe in the TOF vs. TDIFF plots are direct consequence of our trigger mechanism. We should always have in mind, that time is measured of a signal (L or R), that comes last in to the trigger. Here is a proof of that:

E-plane TDC Calibration Results

Here are the results of my calibratio. I aligned one of the paddles (one with the biggest self-timed section ) to t=-350ns. I corrected the other one, so that R-L is 0 at FpY = 0.

EDTM Events:

Where does the additional line seen in paddle #0 results come from. These are the EDTM events. We see them only in the first paddle because of the hit cuts ( look only at the first hit) that we use. When EDTM comes, it triggers all paddles, and hit in paddle #0 is stored as the first hit:
