Hall A Moller Polarimeter - Polarized Electron Target

Möller Polarized Target

A new holder for the ferromagnetic target foils has been built and installed in February, 2005. The goal is to be able to scan the beam along and across the target foil in order to study the observed effects of non-uniformity of the magnetic flux. The new target holder can move transversally to the beam. Five foils are attached to a frame and are tilted by 20o in the vertical projection. They are not rotated anymore. The target frame can move transversally to the beam inside a vacuum chamber. The full target holder can slide on a rail which is parallel to the target foils, thus scanning along the foil. The target holder was designed and assembled by V.G.Gorbenko.
