~sober/manuals/tag_camera.txt 9 July 1998 Tagger Beam Dump Camera and Illumination (NEW: 9 July 1998) The Tagger Beam Dump video signal now comes from a Panasonic WV-BP330 camera (the standard lab surveillance camera) fitted with a 500 mm f/8 mirror lens, which was installed on 9 July 1998. The camera is positioned on the end of a hollow steel rod inserted through the 6-inch-diameter pipe which passes through the 5-foot-thick sand-filled beam dump plug, and views the BeO viewscreen from a distance of approximately 20 ft. The signal cable runs overhead from the tagger dump to the back of Tagger Rack 1, where it is patched to the Counting Room via cable number 27 in the bundle of old video cables. Power for the camera (120 V AC) is provided through an orange power cable which is plugged into the power strip on the back of Tagger Rack 1. The light fixture which illuminates the viewscreen is an ordinary trouble light which has been lowered into the dump through the same hole in the beam dump plug. This light cannot be removed for bulb replacement without removing and repositioning the camera. When the bulb fails, an alternative light fixture exists (a small-diameter floodlight bulb at the end of a long piece of conduit), which we hope can be inserted without disturbing the alignment of the camera. The power cord for the lamp is controlled by a lamp dimmer which is plugged into the rear power strip of Tagger Rack 1 (near the bottom of the power strip.) The best illumination is obtained at approximately 90% full brightness, as marked on the touch strip. Please do not set to 100%, so as to prolong bulb life. >OBSOLETE: The text below refers to the original camera, >which burned out on 1 July 1998. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >The Tagger Beam Dump video signal comes from the camera power >chassis which is located in the bottom rear of Tagger Rack 2. >The cable in the Counting Room is number 27 in the bundle of old >video cables. >The light fixture which illuminates the viewscreen is attached to >an arm inserted through the vent hole in the beam dump plug, >and can be removed for bulb replacement.
