As reported earlier, there was a
possibility of acquiring chambers built for TOTEM. I do
not believe at this time that we will be able to reduce the
collimator thickness such that the electron profile will be
contained by that detector's acceptance.
I have started Sketching a possible chamber design which will
cover the collimator aperture and not interfere with
adjacent octants.
Testing of the BoNuS readout electronics was done at JLAB. I was able to readout a similar number of channels as our GEM proto-type detector at a rate of 300 Hz. The sampling rate of the system is 100 ns (lowest ADC time interval).
A loan agreement form is being prepared which will allow us to borrow their spare electronics which will be enough to instrument a 10 cm x 10cm GEM detector. The BoNuS input connector to the pre-amplifer needs to be changed so it is compatible with the protoype chamber connectors
