1.) Chamber:
We expect to have a preliminary readout board design sent to CERN
by next week. My goal would be to have a final design at CERN
just before the collaboration meeting.
CERN has said that they would be able to deliver the board at the
end of August if the design gets to them by the end of July.
Parts which remaing to be acquired: Charge collector, Output
connectors, G10 nuts & bolts.
2.)Readout electronics
We have successfully talked with our VFAT readout board and
configured it via the I2C communication protocol.
Our next objective will be to configure a
< href="http://www.gumstix.com/">"Gumstick" Linux card
to be the I2C interface to the VFAT. Initially the controls
would be through a web browser.
The general layout for transfering the VFAT signal to the VME
crate will be to have 1m long cables from each VFAT card to a
"Junction Box". The Junction box will direct I2C signals out an
RJ45 cable to the Gumstick located up to 10 m away from the
Junction Box. The LVDS signals will be grouped into one 34 pin
connector and sent to the V1495 FPGA which LaTech has received
from CAEN. The pinouts for the 34 pin connectors are listed at
here
