1.) Chamber:
A 30 x 30 ionization chamber was constructed over the summer for
a different experiment.
A picture of the open chamber shows the segmented foils from
3M along with the fram structure of 10cm x 10cm openings. The
readout board had a simple geometry. The
closed detector is about 2cm thin.
Tony Forest has completed the move to Idaho State University.
Louisiana Tech has agreed to subcontract the ionization
chamber construction to Idaho State University. The
subcontract should be completed in the coming months.
2.)Readout electronics
Louisiana Tech has not decided to subcontract the readout
electronics for the above chamber to Idaho State University.
I still plan on using the VFAT board from CERN to instrument
the above chambers. (Other chambers I am building will use
the board).
The latest version of the VFAT board has arrived at CERN.
Preliminary tests have not found any problems. I plan to
use my startup funds to travel to CERN in the coming months to
be trained on the readout card. I hope to be prepared in the
event that Lousiana Tech decides to
subcontract the chamber readout to Idaho State.
3.) rotator Louisiana Tech has decided to complete this project. Installing a larger diameter ring and writing a control GUI are the remaining tasks.
