status of Forward Tracker 9/29/2005

1.) Readout:
We are now able to program Helix boards. Our tests with the cards suggest there are some reliability problems. We were able to set voltage levels but the power supply current draw would be different when we tried to repeat the setting. We were able to burn one up. We are now looking into borrowing the BoNuS readout platform for testing. If we are allowed to use the BoNuS readout system then we only need to alter the BoBuS amplifier card so it connects to our detector (change the input connector and deal with space issues) . BoNuS will need the electronics until Jan 2006. There are more than enough readout modules for our needs.

2.) Detector
The newly designed protype (no more wire bond) is installed and working. I am trying to make my first bad resolution picture of a quarter.

3.) Detector rotator apparatus
The Rotator apparatus is complete.

At least 2 problems remain.
1.) Need to program a control GUI
2.) May need to buy a bigger ring to be outside latest detector acceptance.
