From Decuplets to Anti-Decuplets and Quarks to Pentaquarks
In summary, evidence is mounting for the existence of an anti-decuplet family of baryons with a valence structure of 5-quarks. However, the properties of the Θ+ S=+1 state such as spin, isospin and parity, still need to be determined before it can be conclusively identified as a member of the JP=½+ anti-decuplet, and the single observation of the Ξ5-- cries out for confirmation. This new family of pentaquarks promises to rewrite our understanding of baryon spectroscopy. The implications of this discovery are being evaluated continuously in the literature [19] and we can only expect more surprises in the near future.
