Steve Docherty Steve Docherty was hired in 2015 by the cryogenics group on a term position as a welder/fabricator. Shortly thereafter, he was matrixed to Hall B to assist with the construction of the torus magnet. Steve made a name for himself as the "go to" welder/fabricator for just about anyone that knew him. His skill in his trade led to him working for the lab as a contractor after his term expired. In 2017 he accepted a staff position with the cryogenics group until he ultimately joined the Hall B technical staff.
