Hall B Scientific Staff Bios


Sara Liyanaarachchi


Sara received her B.Sc. in Physics from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka in 2014. In 2023, she earned her Ph.D. in Physics from Hampton University. During that time, she worked on two experiments namely, the DarkLight@ARIEL experiment and MUSE (MUon Scattering Experiment) at PSI, Switzerland. Her research focus lies in the field of Gas Electron Multiplier detectors, where she has developed a set of GEM detectors using a novel technique for the DarkLight@ARIEL experiment and contributed to GEM data analysis for the MUSE experiment. She will be joining Jefferson Lab as a Hall B Postdoc in May 2024.

Current Responsibilities in Hall B:

  • Work on novel tracking systems in Hall B to support the CLAS12 luminosity upgrade.
