Will Oren

Former Engineering Division Manager

Will Oren served as manager of Jefferson Lab's Engineering Division from 2006. He oversaw the operation and staffing of three departments: mechanical, electrical engineering support, and cryogenics. He progressed to this position after starting out as leader of the Alignment Group. In that capacity, he was responsible for the alignment of the CEBAF accelerator and the associated experimental areas. From there, he went on to lead the Mechanical Systems Groups within the Accelerator Engineering Department before being named to his current position.

Oren started his professional career at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC) in Stanford, California, as a geodetic engineer. He advanced to deputy leader of the Alignment Group before moving to Jefferson Lab. Oren holds a Master's Degree in Geodesy & Photogrammetry and a Bachelor's Degree in Land Surveying, both from Purdue University.

He has served as a reviewer for numerous Department of Energy Office of Project Assessment Reviews, for Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) proposals, and for detailed technical reviews to support large Department of Energy accelerator construction projects.
