Mary Erwin
Former Chief Financial Officer
Mary Erwin served as Jefferson Lab's Chief Financial Officer. As CFO, she was responsible for all of JLab's financial operations. This included recommending the appropriate financial policies and procedures and carefully critiquing those in place to maximize the Lab's effectiveness and minimize its expenses. She was also responsible for ensuring that policies were in compliance with all governmental requirements, including those of the U.S. Department of Energy.
Mary played a significant role in the development and shaping of business plans and provided financial oversight for all the budgets of the institution. She collected and reviewed financial information and then reported accordingly. Her chief concern was accomplishing the goals of the Laboratory, its projects, and its programs.
Mary became Jefferson Lab's CFO in March of 2003. She spent 10 years at Los Alamos National Laboratory, N.M., where she achieved positions including Accounting Group Leader, Deputy Group Leader for Business Planning and Analysis, and Business Operations Division Chief of Staff. She had also been the Chief Financial Officer for companies in the homebuilding industry and was a senior auditor for a "Big 8" accounting firm.
She was a Certified Public Accountant and held a Bachelor's of Business Administration in Accounting from the University of Texas.
