Addenda/Errata to Previous Minutes

• D. Douglas talked about corrector field flatness calculations as they related to a note we received from Andrew concerning the fact that normally correctors are spec'd to a worse case scenario which rarely pans out. By realizing this it might be possible to use the 7% field error correctors in the machine and move magnets as necessary to minimize their impact on the beam optics. Dave pointed out that this is the same valid argument brought up by Leigh last fall, but the problem with it is it gives the commissioning crew too many knobs; tweek a corrector or move a magnet and if so which magnet? The other issue was moving a magnet with the consequent realignment was more expensive than the up front cost of the magnet.

  We also do not have the diagnostics presently installed to easily say exactly what the problem is. We are presently still planning to do the sensitivity runs and use the best correctors feasible.

• There is also the question of whether the 7% correctors make a difference in the injector. B. Yunn says he thinks the 3% magnets will be fine, but he's not sure about the 7% magnets. George then suggested that we use the 350 kV line as a testbed by generating a simple chicane inside the pipe and looking at the effect downstream.

  New Issues

• Check your snail mail for the ITS shift schedule. All FEL principals are expected to do their part. Found out that the shift times are wrong on the schedule!!! Ops changed back to a straight 8 to 4, 4 to 12, and 12 to 8 schedule to meet demands with the staff available.
