Items of Discussion

The weekly schedule was discussed. During the week gun reassembly proceeded smoothly and we picked up a full day on the schedule. However, the cathode that was produced had difficulty holding off voltage beyond 335 kV and produced no photoemission so it was decided to reactivate the NEG pumps and high voltage process the cathode to 425 kV. Along the way we will gather data from the RGA and also try to determine whether the heat cleaning, or cesiation is the biggest problem in producing voltage standoff at the cathode.

A schedule has been produced for the next two weeks which has us doing 5 micron lasing with the high power mirrors, doing initial recirculation, and providing light for FEL characterization. We will run this weekend and have no Maintenance Day on Monday 7/27 but will resume normal schedule the following week.

A proposal to install up to 6 new viewers was presented by K. Jordan to attempt coverage of the large spans in the machine where we have few diagnostics. It appears possible to install viewers in existing ports so that the mods required are minimal. A prioitization was established for various locations. K. Jordan was directed to acquire the components and assemble and install as many as budget permits.
