• Kevin Jordan gave an overview of the MPS system. The core of the system is a set of the APS VME cards designed to work as an FSD system. Al Grippo has already adapted much of the software from APS to use the card with the TJNAF version of EPICS. The system uses two cards back to back in the VME crate to handle an input. The system architecture is to hard program in a set of FSD masks in PROMS on the cards which correspond to a set of preset beam conditions; i.e. Setup with viewers, first light CW, etc. This system would remove the potential for inadvertant masking of an MPS input.
• The one area of concern in this layout is that it does not allow for discrete areas to be commissioned. This is of particular concern because we will probably want to commission the injector to 10 MeV prior to completing the backleg beamline.
• Kevin and Bob legg will get together and work through the areas vs. modes for the machine.
