Norfolk International Airport (ORF) is the major airport serving coastal Virginia and northeast North Carolina. Airlines servicing ORF are Allegiant, American, Delta, Frontier, Southwest and United. Travel to the Waterside District of Norfolk takes approximately 20 to 25 minutes.

A major hub close by is Washington Dulles International which is conveniently located a few hours (~4-5 hours depending on method of ground transportation) away from Norfolk, Virginia. Dulles International offers 98 nonstop U.S. Destinations and 52 nonstop International Destinations. You can rent a car at any of these airports and drive to Norfolk, Virginia. There are tunnels and bridges, as well as potential tolls along the route, so please plan accordingly. You can also utilize other methods of ground transportation, such as Amtrak or Greyhound.

From Washington DC Airports

  • Travel time via taxi or rideshare will be about 45-50 minutes. Fares will be about $70, excluding tip.

By Bus

Travel time from Dulles Airport via taxi or rideshare is approximately 50 mins, depending upon traffic. Fares will range from $60 - $70, excluding tip and toll fare. There are no bus or metro lines from Dulles to Union Station.

Travel time from Reagan via taxi or rideshare is approximately 15 mins, depending upon traffic. Fares will range from $15 - $20, excluding tip. Additionally, you can take a bus or metro lines (note: you must purchase a $10 card to ride metro, this is separate from the actual fares for travel). Travel time is about 35 mins, depending upon traffic.

E-Scooters - To find a Lime near you, simply open the Lime app. You'll automatically be taken to the map screen, showing all available Lime vehicles in your area.

Lime scooter pricing is $1.00 per ride to unlock a scooter and $0.32 per minute of use. For example a 5 minute short trip would cost a total of $2.60 or 10 minute trip would cost $4.20 total and be charged to the credit card info that was used to open your Lime account using your phone app.

 

Hampton Roads transit – local bus and light rail (The Tide) system. You can purchase a single ticket or a GoPass, that allows you to ride as many times as you want within the period of the GoPass. You can purchase while on board, at Ticket Vending Machines (TVM), or at some retail outlets, such as 7-Eleven or Food Lion.
