We invite everyone interested in neutron rich matter, nuclear structure, or electron scattering and fundamental symmetries to Virginia this summer. The Lead Radius Experiment (PREX) Workshop will be held Aug. 17-19, 2008 at Jefferson Laboratory. PREX is a fascinating experiment that uses parity violation to accurately determine the neutron radius in 208Pb. This has remarkably broad applications to astrophysics, nuclear structure, atomic parity non-conservation, and tests of the Standard model.
We note that the conference will begin with introductory lectures and we encourage newcomers to attend. You must register in advance to attend this workshop!
The workshop will have a poster session and we encourage you to submit a poster title and short abstract to the conference web site.
Graduate students are also encouraged to attend. We hope to have modest funds to cover your local expenses. Interested students should have their adviser send a short recommendation letter to horowit@indiana.edu before June 1, 2008.
We have reserved a block of rooms at the Jefferson Laboratory Residence Facility. Lodging reservation deadline is July 1, 2008. .

Workshop goals:
Document the interpretability and anticipated impact of the PREX experiment on the radius of the neutron distribution in 208Pb. This includes discussing related measurements / calculations in many fields and applications of PREX in Astrophysics. Involve as many graduate students and young people as possible.
