EIC Detector Workshop at JLab
EIC Workshop
June 4 & 5, 2010
Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility
Newport News, VA
Announcement
Jefferson Lab is hosting the 5th JLab EIC user workshop, jointly
sponsored by Jefferson Lab and the Jefferson Lab Users Group, and
supported by the laboratory and the Jefferson Science Associates, LLC
Initiatives Fund. The previous workshops in the series, exploring the
physics of a high-luminosity, medium-energy Electron-Ion Collider (EIC),
were:
- Partonic Transverse Momentum in Hadrons: Quark Spin-Orbit Correlations and Quark-Gluon Interactions, Duke University, March 12-13, 2010
- Electron-Nucleon Exclusive Reactions, Rutgers University, March 14-15, 2010
- Nuclear Reactions, Argonne National Lab, April 7-9, 2010
- Electroweak Reactions, College of William and Mary, May 17-18, 2010.
This 5th workshop will deal with the experimental implementation of the
physics program, providing an opportunity to bring together the
participants of the previous workshops to discuss the requirements and
priorities for the detector and interaction region. As a starting point,
the current ideas for the JLab design will be presented, with the
subsequent discussion structured into four sessions covering.
- Particle identification
- Calorimetry
- Charged particle tracking
- Small-angle detection
Each session will also include 2-3 talks showing the opportunities and
challenges within that area (see program page). While the primary goal
of this workshop is to provide input for the JLab EIC detector design,
it also forms a part of the broader EIC effort.
The Workshop is planned for June 4-5, 2010 and will be held at Jefferson
Lab. There is no registration fee to attend the workshop. HOWEVER, advance registration is required. Please register early to guarantee your space.
More information on the EIC project can be found through the Jefferson Lab EIC wiki, or through the EIC Collaboration web page.
