Happy Holidays!

Dear Colleagues,

As 2019 comes to a close, it is worth reflecting on all that was accomplished in the last year thanks to your hard work and dedication.

We have completed the second full year of upgraded CEBAF operation, delivering more weeks in 2019 than in any year since 2010, which provided significant data sets for all four experimental halls. Additionally, important experimental results from both the 12 and 6 GeV eras were published, as were significant theoretical advances.

The future MOLLER and SoLID initiatives gained momentum, as did important infrastructure projects, such as a major renovation of CEBAF Center. The Electron-Ion Collider design and pre-project planning has taken a leap forward. And the LCLS-II Project has delivered all major cryogenic plant components and two-thirds of the planned cryomodules to SLAC.

These are accomplishments enabled by the entire laboratory, made possible by a focus on delivering the lab’s mission from our mission support organizations. All that you do continues to make the case that Jefferson Lab is a great place in which to invest.

Thank you for being a part of our continued success!

While we have encountered some difficulties this past year, we are taking those difficulties as an opportunity to learn and get better as a laboratory, enabled by open and honest conversation.

We have a lot to look forward to in the coming year, from moving ahead with MOLLER, to operating and improving CEBAF, to enabling our User community to deliver important scientific results. In addition, new projects delivering critical hardware for other accelerator construction projects will take significant steps forward.

As this year comes to a close, I hope you share this sense of accomplishment as you take time to enjoy the season with your friends and family. Thank you again for your hard work, attention to safety, and commitment to our mission.

Best wishes to you and yours for a happy and healthy 2020!

Stuart
