Speaker: Saori Pastore (Old Dominion University) Title: Nuclear electromagnetic two-body currents Abstract: The nuclear electromagnetic current operator is derived in time-ordered perturbation theory in an effective-field-theory framework with pions, nucleons, and Delta-isobars up to one loop corrections, {\it i.e.} up to next-to-next-to-next-to-leading order (N$^3$LO) in the chiral expansion. The N$^2$LO current operator is used to evaluate transition matrix elements between wave functions derived from realistic Hamiltonians with two- and three-body potentials. A number of electromagnetic observables including A$=2,3$ nuclei magnetic moments and cross sections for radiative captures of thermal neutron on deuteron and triton are discussed.
