Speaker: Alberto Accardi (Jeffferson Lab) Title: Collinear factorization for DIS at large Bjorken x Abstract: I consider the computation of the proton structure functions in the large Bjorken xB regime in the framework of collinear factorization. Explicit target mass corrections (TMC) are included at leading twist, and shown to not violate the xB<1 kinematic limit as in previous calculations. Compared to the well known Georgi-Politzer TMC, I obtain similar F1 and F2 structure functions, but a much smaller correction to the longitudinal structure function. The choice of TMC will have a non negligible impact on the extraction of the gluon distribution functions from experimental data. I also point out the theoretical and phenomenological necessity of not neglecting the current jet invariant mass in the computation. At leading order, jet mass corrections can be achieved introducing in the formalism a collinearly factorized jet function, analogous to the parton distributions. I will comment on the connection between lattice QCD computations of the quark propagator and the phenomenology of the jet function.
