Medical Monitoring

An initial fit for duty assessment is mandatory for all newly hired staff. It provides a baseline evaluation of your health that is useful to you and to Occupational Health & Safety and determines your ability to meet the bonified occupational requirements for the position.

Medical evaluation and certification is required for specific job assignments including radiation workers, work in ODH areas, use of respirators, operation of cranes, forklifts and aerial lift platforms, work in high-noise areas, and work with lasers.

Many jobs at JLab require medical certification to ensure you and your colleagues are not placed at risk. "The ES&H Manual chapter 6800 Appendix T1: Medical Monitoring”, gives more information about how you may be part of a medical monitoring program.
