MATLAB and Simulink for Accelerator Facilities and Particle Physics - Remote

This session will be presented by Temo Vekua, PhD of the MathWorks. Temo has been published over 40 times in leading physics journals and he has recently delivered technical computing presentations to other DOE labs in fields such as Hardware Control, Machine/Deep Learning, Parallel Computing, Predictive Maintenance, FPGA ASIC Development and FPGA Design Verification.

In this introductory session he will review MATLAB and Simulink and their relevant toolboxes for research at accelerator facilities, focusing on those based on artificial intelligence (machine/deep learning) and how they can meet expectations of accelerator and particle physicists. He will also present stories of MATLAB and Simulink used at physics “big machines” facilities, including particle accelerators, by both physicists and engineers.

Several more detailed sessions on specific topic areas are planned in the New Year.
