Alternative Transportation Program

Electric Vehicle Charging Stations at CEBAF Center

The Alternative Transportation Program includes on-site Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

Jefferson Lab encourages employees, users, and visitors to use sustainable forms of transportation to reduce Scope 3 GHG emissions related to commuting. In FY 2022, Jefferson Lab performed its first-ever commuter survey to better understand the transportation behaviors and needs of its employees and users. As a direct response to the survey, Jefferson Lab is launching the Alternative Transportation Program. The Alternative Transportation Program provides preferred parking for Low Emission Vehicles and Carpooling, includes on-site charging stations for Electric Vehicles (EV) and Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV), and creates a forum for the lab community to communicate about sustainable commuting strategies. To learn more about the program benefits and register as a Alternative Transportation Program participant, see the topic areas below!

Low Emission Vehicles (LEVs)

Throughout the campus, Jefferson Lab offers highly-desirable parking spaces dedicated to Low Emission Vehicle (LEV) drivers. Using the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy's (ACEEE) GreenerCars database, Jefferson Lab provides LEV parking permits for light-, medium-, and heavy-duty vehicles with a ranking of Above Average or higher. To register your LEV vehicle, complete this form. To learn more about ACEEE's GreenerCars database or check your vehicle's ranking, click here!
