Training Requirements

In order to provide a safe and secure place to work, Jefferson Lab requires all individuals to acquire and maintain knowledge, skills, and abilities (generally called “skills”) which are designed for specific organizations, personnel types, jobs, and onsite work areas.  Most of these skills are acquired through training.

The minimum training requirements, after onsite access registration or new employee orientation is complete, for access to CEBAF Center, Support Service Center, and the ARC building is:

  • Environmental Safety & Health Orientation (SAF 100)
  • Security Awareness for Employees (GEN034)
  • Standards of Conduct (GEN101) (for Employees only)

If you have any questions or concerns about training, verify your training requirements with your JLab Host/Supervisor.

  • SAF100C (Construction Contractors)
  • SAF100S (Service Contractors)

If you have any questions or concerns about trainings, verify your training requirements with your Technical Representative (TR).

Accelerator Site Access for Staff, Users, & Subcontractors:

  • SAF800 (access to accelerator)
  • SF801kd (access into any buildings on accelerator site)

High School & Undergraduate Students:

All High School and Undergraduate students must also complete the Student Safety and Security Training prior to gaining access to work areas.  This course cannot be taken online.  Contact the Science Education Office (education@jlab.org) to schedule this training.

For access to all other areas, please contact your JLab Host/Supervisor or TR for specific training requirements.  If required skills are not kept current, access to the specific work area will be denied, and badges will be affected.

To review and complete the training for your required skills, please visit our Web-Based Training page.  Most required skills training can be accomplished online (expect for Radiation Worker 1).
