This represents a general upward trend since the last forecast. ...Winds... as Hurricane Earl approaches...sustained tropical storm force winds are expected to begin after midnight and continue through Friday morning in areas along and near Chesapeake Bay. Winds farther inland will be lighter. ...Storm surge and storm tide... as Hurricane Earl approaches the coast...there is an increasing chance for combined storm surge and astronomical tide waters between 3 and 4 feet above mean sea level...or about 4.5 to 5.5 feet above mean lower low water...along the Chesapeake Bay and adjacent tributaries north of Sewells Point.
