Prof. Robert Roth and his students (Darmstadt), new collaboration Prof. Achim Schwenk and Dr. Javier Menendez (Darmstadt), new collaboration Dr. Thomas Neff (GSI), useful discussions ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 6) TOPICS DISCUSSED DURING VISIT Incorporation of chiral 3-body forces in ab initio many-body nuclear structure calculations; Improved chiral 3-body forces (which are expected to become available soon); Electroweak matrix elements, both leading order and corrections coming from effective chiral field theory; Clustering in light nuclei, two-body observables and two-body density matrix elements. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 7) IMPACT ON TRAVELER'S OR HOST'S RESEARCH (INCL. EXPECTED PUBLICATIONS) We expect to have ongoing collaborations with Prof. Robert Roth and his group on ab initio nuclear structure calculations, leading to several joint publications (a first joint publication is in preparation). We plan to jointly develop critical theoretical ingredients such as input 3-body forces for many-body nuclear structure calculations and output many-body wavefunctions. We also plan to jointly compete for the needed computer resources in future proposals to DOE. With Prof. Achim Schwenk and Dr. Javier Menendez (as well as Prof. Doron Gazit from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem) we plan to evaluate chiral two-body current corrections for electroweak processes that are obtained within the ab initio nuclear structure calculations. This project will necessarily involve setting up a large scale collaboration involving Prof. Doran Gazit and a team of ab initio researchers committed to evaluating and storing two-body density matrices. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 8) RELEVANCE TO JEFFERSON LAB OR GSI-FAIR (LIST RELEVANT PROGRAMS) Nucleon-nucleon and three-nucleon correlations are hot-topic areas under investigation for planned experiments at the 12 GeV JLab facility. My work focuses on ab initio nuclear structure with interactions from chiral effective field theory. One goal is to produce high-quality predictions for these future experiments at JLab. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 9) SUGGESTIONS/RECOMMENDATIONS FOR PROGRAM ADMINISTRATORS (IF ANY) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 10) SUPPORT PROVIDED BY HOSTS (INDICATE TYPE AND EXTENT OF SUPPORT, NOT EXACT AMOUNTS) Office space. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 11) ACKNOWLEDGMENTS Please acknowledge support from the GAUSTEQ program in any publication benefiting from the results of your visit, by including the following text in your acknowledgments: "This work was supported partially through GAUSTEQ (Germany and U.S. Nuclear Theory Exchange Program for QCD Studies of Hadrons and Nuclei) under contract number DE-SC0006758." **********************************************************************
