Guidelines
The following should be used as application guidelines.
- Applicants should submit a proposal describing:
- the context and objectives of the research to be conducted during the proposed travel, including the benefits to the experimental research programs at Jefferson Lab or GSI-FAIR;
- the status of their collaboration with the German hosts, including a list of collaborators to be visited and the length of the visit(s);
- A brief CV should be attached, including selected publications relevant for the proposed research;
- Proposals will be judged primarily on the overall quality of the proposed research. Preference will be given to proposals with well-defined research goals and outcomes.
- Applications can be made at any time by filling out an online application form.
- The typical length of supported stay is expected to be about 2 weeks. However, applications for travel for shorter or longer periods will also be considered.
- It is expected that applicants will spend some portion of their time at the Darmstadt or Helmholtz Institut Mainz (HIM) branches of GSI during their visits to Germany.
- The program is *not* intended to support conference attendance, and therefore cannot pay for conference registration fees or support during conferences attended while on travel through GAUSTEQ.
- There will be a maximum of 1 award given per person per year.
- At the completion of travel supported by the GAUSTEQ program, participants will be required to submit a brief report to gausteq@jlab.org, using the template provided, summarizing the accomplishments during the travel. Reimbursement of expenses cannot proceed until the report is received.
- The following acknowledgement should be listed in publications benefiting from the GAUSTEQ program:
"This work was supported partially through GAUSTEQ (Germany and U.S. Nuclear Theory Exchange Program for QCD Studies of Hadrons and Nuclei) under contract number DE-SC0006758."
