Description

The GMp Experiment which ran in Experimental Hall A at Jefferson Lab as one of the 12 GeV commissioning experiments measured the elastic cross section from electron-proton scattering with 2-3% accuarcy in the Q^2 range from 7 to 16 (GeV/c)^2. Such measurements test our understanding of nucleon structure in terms of Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD), with high-Q^2 , high-precision data providing strong constraints to models of nucleon structure, with lower Q^2 data on other form factors providing additional constraints on the separation of the u versus d quark contributions to the elastic scattering, and charge versus magnetization distributions. Additionally, the GMp data combined with other existing elastic cross section measurements and polarization observables is expected to provide best constraints on 2-photon contributions. The status of the analysis and final results will be presented.
