Historical Sketch
The Public Affairs Office was first formed as a part of the Directorate with the mission to further public information on the Continuous Electron Beam Accelerator Facility construction and purpose, as well as disseminate information and lead major events highlighting accomplishments for the lab.
In 2017, the office was renamed the Jefferson Lab Communications Office. This office is comprised of three departments: The Public Information Department, (responsible for external and internal communications, media outreach, government relations, corporate content editing, large-scale event planning, and social media); the Electronic Media Department (responsible for graphic design, website management and content, and other digital communications); and Event Services (which manages the on-site café and coordinates all conferences, lectures, workshops, and other special events including lab tours and those requiring on-site food services).
