Dear Colleague,

The 8th INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON NUCLEAR REACTION MECHANISMS will be held, during the week of June 9 - 14, 1997 at Villa Monastero in Varenna on the Como lake.

The Conference is organized jointly by the Italian National Institute of Nuclear Physics, the Universities of Milano, Bari, Catania, Firenze, Genova, Napoli, Padova, Pavia and Roma and the Sicilian Centre of Nuclear Physics and Structure of Matter.

The Conference will deal with:

1. Nuclear thermalization,
2. Heavy ion reaction dynamics, and nucleus-nucleus collisions at relativistic and ultra-relativistic energies,
3. Nucleon correlation in nuclei and nucleon clustering,
4. Exotic nuclei and radioactive beams,
5. Nuclear response to hadronic and electromagnetic probes at intermediate and high energy.
6. Nuclear astrophysics

Each subject will be introduced by invited speakers and selected contributions will be orally presented.

Attendance will be limited to about 100 partecipants, and a Conference Fee of 300 US dollars will be requested, covering social events and the Conference Proceedings. A second circular containing the preliminary program and information on accomodation will be sent at the beginning of the next year to those who will return the enclosed APPLICATION FORM before December 1st, 1996.
