June 25-28, 1997
The 2nd International Symposium on Symmetries in Subatomic Physics will be held at the University of Washington in Seattle,WA, USA, from June 25-29, 1997. It is hosted by the Physics Department, the national Institute for Nuclear Theory and the University of Washington, with support from IUPAP and expected support from the National Science Foundation. The first of these conferences was hosted by Taiwan University in Taipei and was held in 1994.
The purpose of the Symposium is to provide an opportunity for senior researchers, postdoctoral research associates, and advanced students to hear and discuss experimental and theoretical work related to symmetries in atoms, nuclei, and particles. The site is the campus of a major university in a city that offers both the usual urban amenities and ready access to mountains, lakes, and Puget Sound. In June the weather tends to be moderate with considerable sunshine.
The International Advisory Committee for the 2nd. Symposium on Symmetries in Subatomic Physics consists of: A. Arima, M.A. Bouchiat, J.D. Bowman, G.E. Brown, J. Deutsch, H. Ejiri, J. Ellis, W-Y.P. Hwang, H.I.B. Khriplovich, K. Kleinknecht, T.D. Lee, V.M. Lobashev, M. Moshinsky, L. Okun, R. Peccei, N. Ramsey, P. Sandars, A.W. Thomas, E. Vogt, W.T.H. Van Oers, >H. Weidenmueller, Y. Yamaguchi, B. Winstein, C.N. Yang, G-Z. Zhou.
The Local Organizing Committee is : E. Adelberger, M. Alberg, D.G. Boulware, L. de Braeckeleer, E.N. Fortson, W. Haxton, B. Heckel, E.M. Henley (chair), D. Kaplan, G.A. Miller, J. Rothberg, S. Sharpe, K. Young.
The conference will include plenary and parallel sessions, with invited talks in both and contributed papers in the latter. There will also be poster sessions. Accommodations will be available in local hotels/motels and on the campus in dormitories. Futher information is provided below.
