Abstract
High-energy reactions with nucleons and nuclei at large momentum
transfers are a major issue in Quantum Chromodynamics and in future
experimental programs of high-energy facilities. Such processes open a window for
investigations of strong interaction physics in a new domain where color
degrees of freedom develop over large longitudinal distances. Here
interesting coherence effects are expected which, at large momentum transfers,
can be investigated within the framework of QCD through methods similar
to those used in other hard processes. This workshop will address two major
topics of current research in this field, namely high-energy
leptoproduction processes and the physics at small Bjorken-x in collisions with nuclei.
Topics Include:
High-Energy Leptoproduction Processes
- Hard diffractive leptoproduction of vector mesons
- Color coherence effects in diffractive and semi-inclusive processes
- Non-forward parton distributions
- Light-cone dynamics of hadron wave functions
- Future projects at JLab, HERMES, COMPASS and HERA
Small x Physics in Collisions with Nuclei
- Space-time evolution of high-energy processes
- Nucleon and nuclear structure functions at small x
- Hard physics of high parton densities at small x
- Shadowing, multiplicity fluctuations and minijet production
- Parton propagation in dense matter
