    First Announcement

    Second Workshop

    on

Electronuclear Physics with Internal Targets and the

    BLAST Detector

    Thursday, May 28 - Saturday, May 30, 1998

Massachusetts Institute of Technology - Cambridge, Massachusetts

The BLAST spectrometer is at present under construction by an international collaboration with a completion date of approximately Fall 2000. It will be the centerpiece of a program of measurements utilizing internal gas targets in the Bates South Hall Ring. The primary focus is to probe spin-dependent electron scattering from polarized few-body targets in the energy range up to about 1 GeV.

The aim of the workshop next year is similar to that of the meeting at Tempe in March 1992, namely to focus on the physics program made possible by the unique combination of internal targets and a toroidal spectrometer in the energy region up to 1 GeV. The workshop format will be a series of talks by invited speakers together with a number of working groups focussed on specific issues. The workshop will include presentations on related work at other laboratories worldwide. Contributions on physics beyond the approved program are welcome.
