    Fifth Workshop on
    "Electromagnetically Induced Two-Hadron Emission"

    Lund, Sweden, June 13-16, 2001

    2nd Conference Announcement

The fifth workshop on "Electromagnetically Induced Two-Hadron Emission" will be held at the Department of Physics at Lund University in Sweden from June 13 - 16, 2001.  The workshop will focus on recent developments in the field of multi-particle coincidence experiments performed with the electromagnetic probe.  We anticipate an informal and open meeting with ample time for discussions. There will be no parallel or poster sessions.  After the workshop, Lund and its surroundings offer many opportunites for relaxation and enjoyment.

    General Information

(please see our updated conference webpage athttp://2nconf.nuclear.lu.se for more detailed information)

Sweden is situated in northern Europe, and Lund is located on its southern tip (600 km south of Stockholm, 30 km northeast of Copenhagen).  Local time is one hour ahead of GMT, and DST runs from late-March through late-October.  June is summertime in Sweden and typical temperatures range from 15 C - 25 C (60 F - 75 F).  The unit of currency is the Swedish Krona (on February 14,2001 1 EUR ~ 9.02 SEK, 1 USD ~ 9.80 SEK).  You may wish to have a small amount of Swedish currency (500 SEK) in hand prior to your arrival.  Credit cards are accepted by most businesses.  Power is 220 VAC, 50 Hz.  Motorways are right-hand drive, and seatbelts are compulsory throughout the vehicle.  Sweden is a metric land.  Most people understand and speak English, and to a lesser degree, German.  Visas, healthcare considerations, and international driving permissions are the responsibility of the attendee, and must be addressed prior to arrival. The airports closest to us are Copenhagen Kastrup (CPH)and Malmö Sturup (MMX).  Note that Copenhagen is located in Denmark, and certain conference participants may need to contact the Danish authorities regarding transit visas, etc.  An automobile/rail link over the newly opened Øresund bridge will take you from Kastrup to Lund.  Should you fly to Sturup, you will need to complete your journey to Lund via taxi or bus.

Lund was founded over 1000 years ago, and today is adynamic city of roughly 100000 people.  Often called the"City of Bicycles", it is a unique coupling of a large University (about 34000 students and 6000 employees), a high-tech R&D park (Ideon, housing such multinationals as Ericsson, Axis, and BioInvent), and industry (AstraZeneca, Gambro, and TetraPak) to a medieval centrum. Conference accomodations are responsibility of the attendees, and an accomodations database may be found at the conference website.  Note that June in southern Sweden is a particularly active time of year for tourism, so we encourage you to make your arrangements as soon as possible!

The conference will be held in SAL B, a large lecture hall at the Lund University Physics Department.  This hall is equipped with two overhead projectors, and a PC/projector system.  We request that you let us know of any special requirements you may have for your talk in advance, so that we may accomodate you.

A third conference mailing directed to registered participants will be coming out in approximately two months.  This mailing will provide specific details regarding the speakers, as well as information on the conference social program.
