Jefferson Lab Run-a-Round 2013

Ready, Set, Go! to the May 22, 2013 Run-A-Round
Dust off those running shoes and save the date! The 28th annual Jefferson Lab Run-A-Round event will be held Wednesday, May 22, from 3 - 6 p.m. JLab staff, users, students, full-time contractors and immediate family members are invited to participate. Staff and users that participate in the run or that volunteer can receive a free 2013 JLab T-shirt.

The event will begin in front of CEBAF Center at 3 p.m. with the debut of the 2013 T-shirt. The run/walk will start promptly at 3:15 p.m.; please note this start time differs from years past. The run will cover a 2.2 kilometer (~1.36 mile) course.

Food and beverages, music and the awards presentations will follow the race. Awards will go to the top three male and female finishers in each age group and to the top three overall fastest male and female finishers. Included this year is a special category we are calling the "Stroller Stride". Bring the littlest ones and compete with the exclusive stroller group.

Register For Run-A-Round By May 21
Online registration is open on the JAG webpage: Runner Registration
All runners and walkers must register to be eligible for prizes. Online registration is open through 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21. Register your family members who are planning to participate so adequate refreshments can be planned. We are asking parents wishing to join the Stroller Stride to sign up as a runner in their age catagory to secure a race bib. Actual Stroller sign up will be the day of the race during bib pickup.

All participants must pick up their race bibs on Wednesday, May 22 between 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. in the CEBAF Center lobby.

Late registration also will be from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22 in the CEBAF Center lobby. However, individuals registering the day of the race won't be eligible for awards.

Staff and users may turn in their race bib at the T-shirt Distribution Tent after the race to get their free 2013 JLab T-shirt.

Help Make The Event a Success: Volunteer Just One Hour of Your Time

The success of this event depends heavily on participation and volunteer support. Volunteering is a great way to meet new faces, catch up with colleagues and co-workers and enjoy the afternoon. Volunteers not participating in the race will receive a free 2013 JLab T-shirt.

Nearly 70 volunteer opportunities need to be filled. Volunteer sign-up is available on the JAG webpage: Volunteer Sign-up
Volunteer help is needed before, during and after the event in a variety of areas:
-- Food preparation and set up before the event.
-- Staff the late registration and bib distribution tables the day of the event.
-- Water stations, course and finish line monitors.
-- T-shirt distribution.
-- Staffing food and beverage tents before and during event.
-- Breakdown after the event.
