This week we recognize the birthday of Steven Chu, February 28. Chu was the 12th US Secretary of Energy from January 21, 2009 to April 22, 2013 and winner of the 1997 Nobel Prize for cooling and trapping atoms with laser light. He is currently the William R. Kenan, Jr., Professor of Physics and Professor of Molecular & Cellular Physiology in the Medical School at Stanford University.
