*Annually, JSA observes a lab shutdown at the end of the calendar year. In addition, JSA observes 4 paid holidays during this shutdown period. In order to maximize consecutive holiday leave, all designed “shutdown” days on the calendar are allocated to the same business week. This offers employees the option to use Leave Without Pay (LWOP) or in the event they must use LWOP, JSA remains in compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). JSA reserves the right to designate an observed holiday day other than the actual day during the Lab's annual shutdown period to minimize the risk of employees partially working a week during the shutdown.
